Optimist Club of Brooklin Summer Day Camp
Counsellor In Training Program
The transition of being a camper into a Counsellor starts with a Counsellor In Training (C.I.T.) Program. The program is ideal for youth ages 13-16 who will look forward to working at a camp in the future. This program is designed to encourage youth to learn the basic skills needed in order to become a positive leader within the community. This program could potentially be the foundation for a career in the Camp environment. We are offering one session and once the CIT course is complete, some of the best candidates will be asked back in a volunteer position. This program will allow the participants to join in activities planned by other Counsellors as well as take part leading various programs and activities. This program is designed to allow a complete camp experience along with supervised and guided training toward becoming an effective member of camp staff.
The 2017 session runs from Aug 7th-Aug 25th (Minimum of 10 participants to run.)Learning Objectives: During their time at camp, the C.I.T’s will learn the basic standards of how a Camp is run. This program will give each participant an opportunity to learn proper programming skills. We also will be allowing our C.I.T’s to take on great responsibility as well as an opportunity for hands on experience. The C.I.T’s will work alongside one of our Director’s on a day-to-day basis as well as being able to work shadowing our Counsellors. This program will include skill clinics in specific areas as well as leadership seminars. Each participant will be given weekly evaluations. These evaluations will allow the participants to see their strengths as well as the areas they need to improve on. >
Our camp offers many exciting excursions once a week, which will allow the C.I.T’s to join in these special events. As well we offer special programs, as this remains essential to the experience. Our C.I.T's are the future leaders of Optimist Summer Day Camp.
Fees: The rate of the C.I.T Program is $350 for the entire 3 week period.
Additional Aspects of the Program: Each participant will receive their own t-shirt, Training Binder, and a Certificate upon successful completion of the Program.
We look forward to having you join our team.Registration: Click here to download the CIT Application form, (PDF file 650kb)
