Who are the Optimists?
An Optimist is a member of a community service club geared to help the youth in the local community. Each club runs hands-on programs most needed by the community as decided by its club members. By being a member of an Optimist club the member grows as an individual by learning more about their community, gaining many friends with similar goals and improving the community that he or she lives in.
: a person who is inclined to be hopeful and to expect good outcomes : someone who is give to optimism The optimists have faith that no matter how avaricious the age, literature will endure.— Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Optimist International (OI) was founded on June 19, 1919 and there are now 60,000 members in 3,000 clubs who are helping youth. OI is divided in 50 Districts and one of them is Central Ontario District which has 1,300 members in 56 clubs. Become an Optimist! Why would you want to be anything else?
Optimist International provides great support and training for members who wish to take on a leadership role in the club and district.
They also offer a personal path to Professional Development for no extra charge.
Professional Development Program
The PDP program is meant to provide members a way to develop
professionally. Members will have the opportunity to build skills that
will help them professionally and enhance their Club, District and
Optimist International. Our organization wants to bring in younger
professionals. The PDP is a tool to help them do that.
Consider not only the benefit to the youth of the Brooklin area, but the fun and fellowship that you will receive by being a member of the Optimist Club with its motto “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”. Contact us to receive a club meeting invitation or attend an activity to see Optimism in action. We look forward to talking with you!
